This reader comment from the article says it all.

I wonder how many decades will pass until we, the people, can speak the truth without punishment.

Isn't it amazing how many people don't want corrupt governments to be exposed? I can never figure that out.

I look at how the American government has lied and covered up serious events over the years and I fully understand why the people are reluctant to give up their guns. They will need them one day soon, to protect themselves against a hostile government.

The US will silence or punish anyone disclosing criminal or unpalatable activities by its government or military. Look at Bradley Manning. Now former CIA agent John Kiriakou is being jailed for 30 months for talking about American torture. The Sydney Morning Herald reported last year that, in an internal email to Stratfor (US intelligence analysts) on January 26, 2012, the vice-president of intelligence Fred Burton commented: ''We have a sealed indictment on Assange".
